  1. This video is 6 months old at the time of me commenting, but for anyone new reading. I have been using motion, presence, vibration, and contact sensors which use Zigbee off AliExpress for over a year and they have been flawless, and they’re super cheap. I pay around £2.50 for the motion, vibration, and contact sensors, but all of them are coin cell batteries, of which all are still reporting over 75% battery despite very consistent use over a year. And slightly more for the presence sensors which are USB powered.

For stuff like cameras and locks, I wouldn’t be using AliExpress just due to the limited warranties and support, but certainly for cheap items like sensors which you would need plenty of, I wouldn’t waste my money on brand labels.
